Summary Of Article:
On a visit to Indonesia, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed that we (we who?) should stop cutting down trees for our palm oil, timber, minerals and other resources. He said that globally, deforestation accounts for 17 percent of carbon emissions and each hectare of forest cut down just contributes to more global greenhouse emissions. He noted that Kalimantan has extensive forest cover, and that many of its inhabitants have much invaluable wealth of forest-based knowledge, but these people are all under threat of losing their homes due to more forests cut down every day. He emphasized that while the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) can have an effective role in engaging developing countries in the global fight against climate change, it is not a substitute for deep greenhouse emissions reductions in developed countries.
If I Was Government:
If I was government, I would hear what Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had to say and stop the cutting-down of trees. I think that palm oil, timber, minerals, and other resources compared with the well-being of our planet and home is infinitesimal, and we should do all we can to stop global greenhouse emissions. The government is made to ensure the well-being and comfort of our citizens, and it would not be "well-being" or "comfort" if people are losing their homes because we decide on cutting down all the forests. Also, if the planet is doomed to destruction, we won't have much needs for resources or money anyways, so the health of our planet should come in front of everything.

Overall, this was a very good summary just be more specific of who you're talking about and when these events happened for example: the date of when it happened and if something had happen to this event prior to this article.
